[ The feed opens with writing initially, but it's nothing of great significance at first. In fact, all the owner seems to be doing is writing his surname on it. ]

Otonashi. [ And then the owner pauses as if he has to try to remember a language that isn't Luceti's known common. ]
音無.

[ Just like any other lost new feather, he discovers this mystical video option and goes for it. Way to be super late to the new feather arrival party, Otonashi! ]

I could have used this all along, huh...? Maybe I ... tried? I can't remember very much about what happened the last few days...

Just something about Malnosso and death penalties. [ There's a break in the audio just before he sneezes. Right ― sickness too. Showing up to Luceti without the right clothing for the weather wasn't his idea, that much is certain. Did he stay out too long in it? It looks like he might have. Why? He can't recall, but he did bump into other winged people that he remembers. ]

And... ah, mister Layton! Thank you for your help.

I remember that much. It's a little fuzzy now, [ What fourth wall event? And all those people lacking wings? What? ] but I got most of it. Is there anything else I should know? [ This is directed at any listeners. ]

action; ---

[ And Otonashi can be found around town, shopping around for a meal. "Shopping" is used loosely here, considering the lack of a monetary system, but nevertheless he is out and about. For anyone who might be familiar with him, he is wearing his "school's" school uniform, except with a wise addition of a thicker shirt beneath it and a scarf. The warm clothes make sense, but the choice in uniform might not.

Everything is going pretty well, and you might either find him stopping at the local bakery (or anywhere nearby!), or worse...

... with a wing slammed in the door. Having these new wings is confusing and weird and he didn't even have to deal with having these things in the afterlife, okay? He was taking in how ornate the paintings inside were. It was just a bakery, he had no idea someone poured so much love into the decor; Otonashi can appreciate the arts! Sadly, the result today is pain.

It just wouldn't be Otonashi if he didn't come into a string of misfortune upon arriving somewhere new.

[ Layton isn't the only professor in the room, everyone. Make way for professor Hinata, pHD in language and professional speaker. ]

Yeah, I'll try the peppermint mocha. Sounds like a strange flavor for tea, but... Ah, why don't I go place the order?

[ He looks to Layton. ] Would you like the darjeeling, then?
reminded: (s'all cool)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-03-10 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[That does sound like a strange flavor for tea, but who knows? He nods at Otonashi.] Darjeeling would be fine, thank you.

[Now then. Even if Otonashi is leaving the table, Layton doesn't want his friend to feel uncomfortable. How about a little chat?] So how do you know Otonashi?
frequent_flyer: (おかえり!)

[personal profile] frequent_flyer 2013-03-11 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Hinata is sitting there, fiddling with one of the packets of honey on the table when Layton addresses him.]

Eh?

Oh!

[He grins, this is a question he can answer without too much trouble. He was expecting... math or something. He was a professor! Isn't that what they... did?]

I met him when he died! [What.] He said you helped him find his clothes, right? Thanks! I didn't even know he was here at first...
trainwrecking: (➝ thumbsup; haha... ha. Good job..?)

[personal profile] trainwrecking 2013-03-11 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Got it. I'll be back in a bit, then.

[ And so Otonashi went on the great, pivotal adventure of ordering everyone's drinks. Try not to lay it on too thick, Hinata, because Otonashi is too preoccupied to do damage control. ]
reminded: (s'all cool)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-03-11 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[No math. For now.]

Ah. [That says it all.] Yes, he was in quite the condition when I met him. It's good to see him in proper health -- and with proper coverage -- this time around.
frequent_flyer: (What?)

[personal profile] frequent_flyer 2013-03-13 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
He and I were both sick for a while, haha... [He scratches his head nervously. It was strange. The illness had been no longer-lasting and no worse than sicknesses he'd had when he was alive, but it had been such a long time since he'd had to worry about getting sick... surely his immune system would have deteriorated.]

[And that got him to thinking...]

So... do people age here? [It's worth asking, he figures.]
reminded: (That concludes the lecture.)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-03-14 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly. A friend of mine has gained a noticeable number of centimeters in his time here. But another I know won't ever age, I believe, as his physiology was simply incapable of it before he arrived here.
trainwrecking: (inquisitive; wow you guys...)

[personal profile] trainwrecking 2013-03-14 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Otonashi looks over the paintings and selection of tea. It can't be too much longer, can it? He is entirely too polite to rush the order, but he is slightly concerned about Hinata graphically describing death or traps or going on about "Villager A" and "NPC Teachers"...]
frequent_flyer: (Sigh)

[personal profile] frequent_flyer 2013-03-18 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[So... death had been an, apparently temporary, halt in time. He didn't age at all, didn't get sick, never suffered form lasting injury... If what the professor said was true, then time was ticking for him once again.]

[He sighed. So much for immortality!]
So that makes me mortal... sort of. [Death still wasn't permanent, just... more risky.]

So I guess I should... find a job..? Unless I have to finish high school first...
reminded: (kira kira)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-03-19 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's a curious conclusion to make, but Layton won't contend with it. He does smile, though.]

I can't offer you a job, but I can offer you an education. We at the school always welcome new students. It's a good way to get in touch with new areas of knowledge, as well as your fellows.
trainwrecking: (oh; that's curious)

[personal profile] trainwrecking 2013-03-20 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
New students..? [Otonashi returns mid-conversation, placing each cup of tea in front of its owner.]
frequent_flyer: (Facepalm)

[personal profile] frequent_flyer 2013-03-20 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
I do have to go back to school? [He groans, laying his forehead on the table when Otonashi comes back with tea.]

This is terrible, I wish I was still dead... [This seems like an awfully strong reaction to school...]
reminded: (That's a fine view.)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-03-20 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Much appreciated. [He nods at Otonashi and pulls the given cup a bit closer.]

Do you both find school so disagreeable?
trainwrecking: (➝ Thinking chair time;)

[personal profile] trainwrecking 2013-03-21 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
N-no! It's not my favorite, I remember groaning about it... I think... [He sips off his tea, quickly deciding it could use a little sugar.]

Ahh, I wonder how far back I would have to go..?
frequent_flyer: (Not listening)

[personal profile] frequent_flyer 2013-03-22 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Eh... I only liked going because it meant I could be on the baseball team.

[A jock, huh?]

[He grabs his tea with a small "thank you" to Otonashi, blowing over the top to chase the steam away.]
reminded: (tip of the hat)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-03-23 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He pours a bit of milk into his tea.]

Ah, baseball. I think we could do with more sports around the village, actually. As for how far back you would need to go... at the moment, there is only one integrated class for the entire school. You only need to take an entrance exam, and then we do what we can to cater to your needs.
trainwrecking: (& Hinata; glancing)

[personal profile] trainwrecking 2013-03-28 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really remember what I thought. Maybe I liked it..? [Judging by his decent intellect, it's a fair guess.]

Oh, ahh... When are entrance exams held? [Speaking of baseball and Hinata's skillsets...] And do they... have maybe a life skills session? Like... Home Economics or something? [Every single person in his house—Otonashi included—needs it. Very, very much so...]
frequent_flyer: (You don't like me?)

[personal profile] frequent_flyer 2013-04-05 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
An entrance exam? [How terrible!]

I was... in my third year of high school, can't I just tell them that and skip it..? [The talk of home economics goes over his head, instead sipping at his tea. Why would he need a course like that? You know, aside from being a danger to life when around an oven.]
reminded: (That concludes the lecture.)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-04-08 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid not. Truly, there's nothing to fear from the exam itself. It's impossible to fail -- unless you don't take it at all, of course. Your test date would be on your first day of attendance.

Unfortunately, we don't have a home economics class. [Though it is an idea.] Our offered subjects are maths, science, writing, art, magic, music, and world sharing. If you'd prefer to opt out of any of them, you'd be more than free to.
trainwrecking: (Whaaaat?!)

[personal profile] trainwrecking 2013-04-09 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
No, that all sounds fine... I'm not very good at art, but— [Wait. Two of these things are not like the others!]

D-did you... did you say magic?! World sharing..?
frequent_flyer: (Wait!!)

[personal profile] frequent_flyer 2013-04-10 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Similarly to Otonashi, Hinata only seemed to hear one of the subjects mentioned.]

Magic..!? [Could his dreams of being an RPG protagonist really come true!?]
reminded: (There's no need to worry.)

[personal profile] reminded 2013-04-11 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Magic. [He very much understands their reactions.] That includes both theory and practical application. I don't teach the class myself, being a thoroughly unmagical sort of fellow, but it's quite... unique.
